Exterior Detailing
pH neutral handwashing, decontamination, clay bar, and wax for a deep, protected shine.
Run your fingers over your paint after a normal wash. If it feels gritty instead of glass smooth, that is bonded contamination: brake dust, industrial fallout, tree sap, and the residue of every freeway mile, and no drive-through wash will remove it.
A real exterior detail starts with a pH neutral handwash that is safe for your clear coat, then decontaminates and clay bars the paint until it is actually smooth, and finishes with wax for gloss and protection. Wheels, tires, and glass get the same attention, because a shiny body with dirty wheels is only half a job.

How Miles approaches it
-
Wash & decontaminate
A careful two stage hand wash followed by chemical decontamination that dissolves what water cannot touch.
-
Clay & refine
Clay bar treatment lifts the bonded contamination out of the paint until the surface feels like glass.
-
Wax & protect
A finish wax locks in the gloss and gives the paint a sacrificial layer against sun and grime.
Exterior packages run $55 to $160 for sedans and $65 to $215 for SUVs and trucks depending on package and condition. RVs and boats are priced per foot on their own pages. If the paint needs more than wax can give, ask about paint correction.
Good to know
How is this different from a car wash?
A car wash removes loose dirt. An exterior detail removes bonded contamination, restores smoothness with clay, and leaves a protective wax layer behind. One takes minutes, the other actually changes the condition of your paint.
How often should I do this?
For most LA daily drivers, a premium exterior detail two to four times a year with regular washes in between keeps paint healthy. Coastal cars benefit from more frequent care. There is a full breakdown in this article.
Will wax remove my swirl marks?
It will mask light ones briefly, but removing them for real is a machine polishing job. That is paint correction, and Miles will tell you honestly which one your paint needs.
